Fondly Do We Hope... Fervently Do We Pray
In addition, light would
not only add colors on objects, but also create shadows, add texts and pictures.
One good example is Bill T. Jones’s dances Fondly Do We Hope... Fervently Do We
Pray which combines colors, texts and pictures. Now, more and more artists
using lights and colors in their dances to show audiences their feelings and
thoughts. In the future, I would write more about this topic--- light and
colors influence 20th Century concert dance.

I agree with the author. Light and colors are really important when dancers performance on the stage. The audience focus on how dancers dancing, at the meantime, the audience will create their first expression of the performance via the lights and colors on the stage. The author said, "lights and colors in dance can show audience dancers' feeling and thoughts." Especially the warm and cold color, it can express totally different emotions.
ReplyDeleteI think audience members take lighting for granted and only focus on the dance. This is a problem because I don't think audience members realize what dance would be like without that. Lighting and color make a huge difference in how an audience reads movement and also how they feel. Lighting can change the way someone sees a dance, which not many people realize. Lighting has the ability to bring dances to life.
ReplyDeleteYour blog helped me to understand how inseparable color and light are from concert dance.
